Juana Lopez de Garcia

Juana Lopez de Garcia, 78, of South Bend passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday April 13, 2024 at Trailpoint Village in South Bend.

Juana was born in Poza Rica, Mexico on October 1, 1945 to the late Carlos Lopez and Victoria Sanchez.

Juana married Manuel C. Garcia on November 26, 1969, sharing nearly 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2004.  He lovingly called her “Juanita” after his mother, which is how we all came to know her. Together they lovingly created their family to include their two children; Juana “Angelica” Garcia of South Bend and Manuel (Celia) Garcia, of Modesto, CA.

Juana was a beautiful, loving, caring and passionate woman. She was passionate about her faith, family, friends, life and living her life to the fullest. It was a beautiful life. She continues to touch many lives in so many ways. She will be greatly missed and will always be remembered.   

Juana is survived by her children, grandsons; Antonio Hernandez and Cristian Hernandez, her sister; Teresa Lopez Medina, her nieces; Sandra Medina Bowerman, and Griselda Medina Herrera, and their respective families; her sister in law; Carmen Moreno; and all of her and Manuel’s remaining family in Mexico and Texas.

Juana was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorial visitation for Juana will be held from 2pm-3pm on Saturday April 20, 2024 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend.  A memorial service will be held at 3pm at the funeral home.
