Judith Cook Obituary

Judith A. Cook, a lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on February 8, 1940, to the late Frank and Philomeen "Thelma" (VanVlasselaer) Daniels.

A graduate of Riley High School, Judith's retired from a fulfilling career as an accountant for the Sisters of the Holy Cross, where she devoted 30 years of service before her well-earned retirement. Her professional life was characterized by the same meticulous care and warmth she brought to every aspect of her existence.

On June 27, 1959, Judith married the love of her life, Gerald Cook, who preceded her in death on January 21, 2006. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. She is survived by her daughter, Sheri Cook, who remains in South Bend, a living legacy of their shared life and love.

Judith's family was the cornerstone of her world. She is survived by her brother, James (Betty) Daniels of Missouri; four adoring grandchildren; five great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy; and a host of nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her guiding presence. She was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Barrett, and brother, Norman Daniels, both of whom she held dear in her heart.

Those who knew Judith will remember her for the beauty she cultivated, both in her relationships and in her beloved yard. Her passion for gardening was evident to all, as she had the most beautiful and well-kept yard on the block—a testament to her love for nurturing growth and beauty in all forms. Her green thumb was only matched by her ability to cultivate love and laughter among her family and friends.

Judith's grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her guidance and unconditional love have left an indelible mark on their hearts. She also found great companionship in her fur babies, whose presence provided comfort and joy throughout her days.

In keeping with family wishes there will be no formal services held. Judith will be laid to rest privately alongside her husband, Gerald, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Osceola, IN.
