Judy Kay Barnaby (Athey), born May 18, 1946, returned to Heaven on September 7, 2021.
Judy graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1964. She worked in the banking and RV industries, retiring from her final role as office manager at Elixer Industries (Yellow Dog) in Mishawaka.
Judy was a kind, compassionate, and loving person and a dedicated mother/grandmother. She loved to travel, read, craft, and spend time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arley and Stella Athey, her ex-husband and friend Loren Shingledecker, her nephew Eddie Dabros, and her life’s soul mate, Phillip Barnaby. She leaves behind her children; Lisa (Mike) Strimbu and Todd Shingledecker (Melissa Brown). They will forever more be lost without her. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren; Jessica Stoers (Chris Talboom), Philip Strimbu, Lily Shingledecker, and her bonus grandchild, Bella Shingledecker. She leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, who were a source of much joy and laughter, Kira, Roman, and Adrian Talboom. She leaves behind her best friend and constant companion, her sister Marie Dabros. She leaves behind Kim Olletti (Brian), her niece that she considered as a daughter, and her much loved great-nephew and nieces, Michael, Ashley, and Kayla.
She leaves behind too many Shingledecker nieces and nephews to name, but she enjoyed them all. There will not be a service because Judy did not want one. Instead she would like anyone who remembers her fondly to do a good deed or act of kindness in her name. Judy regularly donated to Children’s Cancer Research and St. Jude’s Hospital. There will be a life remembrance dinner for family and close friends to be announced at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel is assisting the family.
