Julie E. Kubaszak (Vargo), 75, of Granger, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025 in South Bend, Indiana.
Julie was born on April 6, 1950, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Frank and Julia (Chiki) Vargo. She dedicated over 40 years of her life to nursing, serving as a registered nurse in neonatal intensive care units where her compassion, professionalism, and tireless care touched countless lives.
On April 20, 1970, Julie married Paul K. Kubaszak, and together they built a life centered on family and love. Julie’s life was defined by her devotion to caring for others—both professionally and personally. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Julie is survived by her beloved son, Christopher Kubaszak and his wife Emily, of Granger, Indiana; her cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Kubaszak and Edward (Dakotah) Kubaszak; her sister, Joyce Vargo of Calumet City, Illinois; her brother, Frank Vargo of Germantown, Maryland and cousin Paul Chiki of Gary, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
No services are being held at this time. Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements. Those who wish to honor Julie’s memory may do so by holding close the compassion and generosity she shared so freely throughout her life.
