Karen Leigh DeBoever

Karen Leigh DeBoever, 77, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 2, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. She was born on May 21, 1943 in South Bend to Owen F. and Esther M. (Hullinger) Brothers, both of whom preceded her in death.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Gary) Ham of New Carlisle, IN; son, Joseph DeBoever of South Bend; four grandchildren, Zackery (Amber) Dunnuck of Sparta, MI; Matthew Dunnuck of Williamston, MI; Jesse (Brittany) Ham of Mishawaka, IN; and Kenneth Ham of South Bend; two great-grandchildren, Corbyn and Rorric Ham; brothers, Robert (Jean) Brothers of Fayetteville, GA, and Dick Brothers of Mishawaka; and many nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Yoder, Ruth Brothers, and Susan Smith; as well as her brother, James Brothers.

In 1961, Karen graduated from Riley High School in South Bend. Later, she was employed as a manager at Gloria Jean’s Coffees in University Park Mall, Mishawaka, IN. Karen loved line dancing, bowling, reading, and playing bingo. She never turned down an opportunity to go out to eat. She enjoyed casino slot machine games on her iPad. She also loved visiting auctions and flea markets in Shipshewana, IN.

A memorial service for Karen will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00am-12:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
