"Pop-Pop"
Kasmer (Casey) Sobchak, a man of wisdom and wit, passed away at 1:42 pm on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in his home. Born on July 4, 1947, in Ostrow Wielkopolski, Poland, Kasmer's journey through life was marked by a profound sense of humor, a love for his family, and a passion for his hobbies.
Kasmer was the beloved son of the late Edward and Rose (Rutkowski) Sobchak and brother to his late sisters, Joan Dembowski and Alina Bygonaise. His life was enriched by the love of his family, including his daughter, Kimberly (James) Doty; his son, Keith (Kiara Armour) Sobchak; his cherished grandchildren, Jordyn Fenner, Keith Sobchak, Jr., and Jonathan Sobchak; nephew, Christopher Bygonaise; and niece, Rachele Dembowski. All of whom will fondly remember their "Pop-Pop" for his unwavering support and guidance.
Kasmer's life was a testament to his adaptability and adventurous spirit. In 1980, he moved from New Jersey to Granger, Indiana, for a change in jobs, bringing his family along for the new chapter. His interests were as diverse as his talents; he was an avid gun enthusiast, a motorcycle aficionado who not only drag-raced motorcycles but also built them with his own hands. In his later years, he found joy in tinkering with his guns, a pastime that allowed him to pass the hours with precision and care.
A man of routine and camaraderie, Kasmer reserved his Saturday mornings for breakfast with “the boys,” a tradition that was as much about the food as it was about the fellowship. His friends knew him as someone with the wittiest sense of humor and a laugh that would touch your heart. Kasmer was the kind of person who was always there for anyone in need, ready to drop everything to lend a hand. His light-hearted approach to life was legendary, even when his family tried to pull a prank on him, leading to the memorable response, "Aw, she will be fine," when falsely told his daughter was in jail for disorderly conduct.
Kasmer's wisdom was a beacon for his family. He was the go-to person for advice before making any significant decisions, and he never hesitated to share his knowledge. He was particularly influential in teaching his son-in-law how to approach tasks with confidence and courage.
Kasmer's loving presence will be celebrated and remembered during a time of remembrance from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, located at 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, IN 46615. This gathering will be an opportunity for family and friends to share stories and embrace the memories of a man who was truly wise and whose legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Kasmer (Casey) Sobchak “Pop-Pop” will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life will be felt for generations to come. His laughter, his advice, and his love for life have left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
