Kenneth L. Leedy, 74, of South Bend passed away at the Center for Hospice Raclin House on Friday September 15, 2023.
Ken was born on September 16, 1948 in Elkhart to the late Everett and Marie (Culp) Leedy.
Ken graduated from Concord High School in 1966 then enlisted in the United States Army in 1967; serving in Vietnam, Germany, and at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Kenneth married his best friend and the love of his life, Frances Grenert, on July 19, 1969.
Ken went on to work for Cass-Hudson as a material handler, retiring after many years. He also worked for Bendix wheel and brake and Clark Materials and Handling.
He was the jokester of the family and always brought a smile or laughter to his numerous nieces and nephews. His loving and caring heart will be missed by all that knew him. He was also an avid sports fanatic, favoring the local Irish, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and especially watching his grandkids play their sports.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Frances Leedy, his beautiful children; Sonia (Michael) Wisecarver of South Bend and Kenneth (Krista) Leedy Jr. of Garretson, SD. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; Chrystina (Austin Mannell) Daniels, Angel Leedy, Brian Buesching, Devon Leedy, Aliyah Leedy, Kaylin Leedy, Taylor Wisecarver, and Daniel Caufman. He also leaves behind one great-grandson; Kaiden Mannell as well as his siblings; Shirley Goff of Saltville, VA, Everett Leedy of Goshen, Jim Leedy of Goshen, and Carl Leedy of Saltville, Va.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings; Leona Faye Leedy, John Leedy, and Wayne Leedy.
Visitation for Ken will be held from 1pm-3pm on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. Funeral services will begin at 3pm in the funeral home.
