Kenneth H. Petty, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Southfield Village, at the age of 90.
He was born September 27, 1928 in Bonnie Doon Cumberland, North Carolina, a son of the late Jesse & Nellie (Sessoms) Petty, and has lived in South Bend most of his life.
On April 15, 1949 in South Bend, Ken was united in marriage to Eleanor Maxine Lawrence. Together, they enjoyed 64 years of marriage until her passing on December 14, 2013.
He was also preceded in death by sisters, Bonnie Cash, Iris Perry, and Dorothy Foster.
Ken was the owner of Indiana Carton Company in Bremen, IN. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, and was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church in South Bend.
He is survived by his three sons and their wives, David L. & Jeanette Petty of Cassopolis, MI; James C. & Susan Petty of Edwardsburg, MI; and John T. & Nancy Petty of Loudon, TN. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Kenneth (Sarah) Petty, Matthew (Stacie) Petty, Alicia (Scott) MacDonald, Justin (Jen) Petty, Jodi Petty, Jake (Resa) Petty, and Josie (Glen) Klink, along with thirteen great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 So. Twyckenham Drive, South Bend, with Pastor Kerry Clear officiating. Private burial will take place at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday.
