Kevin V. Putz, 71, a devoted husband and father, passed away unexpectedly at 5:55 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at his home.
Along with Mary, his loving wife of 18 years, Kevin is survived by their four children, Nathan (Madalynne) Putz of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Anne (James) Wiltsey of Columbus, Indiana; Scott Fitterling of Warsaw, Indiana, Lisa (Victor) Medina of Arizona; and six grandchildren: Grace, Brady, Liam, Hunter, Mason, and Tim. Kevin is further survived by his father, Robert Putz of North Liberty, Indiana; his sister, Karen (George) Beringer of San Antonio, Texas; and brother, Brian Putz of North Liberty, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Putz.
Kevin was born on March 4, 1955, in South Bend and remained a lifelong community member. Kevin retired from 1st Source Bank after many years of service. He was an active member of the South Bend Rotary club and truly embodied the ideal of “Service Over Self” through his volunteer work with 4H, Boys & Girls Club, Red Cross blood drives, and other philanthropic efforts. When not volunteering Kevin enjoyed working on cars, listening to live music, traveling and spending time with family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lakeville, 63568 U.S. 31 South in South Bend where friends may visit with the family beforehand beginning at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville Chapel is assisting the family.
Kevin will be remembered for his love of family, cars, and community.
