Laurel Byrd

Laurel “Waters” Byrd, age 77, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack Waters and Mary Pierce Wright, her husband, James Byrd Sr.; her sons, James Byrd and Anthony Byrd; and her daughter, Jenny Byrd.

She is survived by her daughter, Cassandra “Ann Pope; her grandchildren, Anthony (AJ), Ashanti, Kamaala, Jeremy, Cameron, Mikayla, Jeremiah, “little” James, Un’ique, Bennie, Laura, Joshua, Jonthan, Lassandra,Aisekal, Zhanae, and Ariel; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Laurel worked as a homemaker and devoted her life to caring for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and attending services at the Kingdom Hall. She was the heart of her family, a guiding presence whose love touched every generation.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love an enduring gift.
