Lawrence Elliott Obituary

Lawrence R. “Larry” Elliott, 76, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026. He was born on March 27, 1949, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late J. Colin Elliott and Roxie (Goshgarlan) Elliott.

Larry was a proud graduate of Buchanan High School. He began his college years at Indiana University, later earning his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and ultimately his J.D. from Thomas Cooley Law School. Education became both his passion and his profession; for more than 30 years, he dedicated his career to teaching in both Michigan and Colorado, shaping countless students along the way.

Larry had a deep love for the outdoors and an enduring affection for the American West. During his years in Colorado, he operated a fishing guide service in both Colorado and Montana, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others who appreciated the beauty of nature as much as he did.

In his younger days, Larry was an exceptional athlete, participating in both football and wrestling. He was proud to have been part of the reserve Indiana University football team that traveled to the 1967 Rose Bowl. He was also a member of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, honoring his family’s heritage.
Larry is survived by his brothers, Gary (Anne) Elliott and Mac (Marta) Elliott; his nieces, Katie, Katherine, Sarah, Roxie, and Emily; and his nephews, Michael and Mac Jr. He was preceded in death by his brother, Colin Elliott.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and no public services will be held. Memorial contributions in Larry’s honor may be made to the Armenian General Benevolent Union at www.agbu.org/give. Online condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
