Lawrence W. "Larry" Fisher, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, at the age of 88, in Mishawaka, IN. Born on December 17, 1937, in North Manchester, IN, Larry lived a life characterized by hard work, family devotion, and a passion for all things mechanical.
Larry's journey began as the beloved son of Raphael and Catherine (Divelbiss) Fisher, who preceded him, as did his siblings Betty Craig and Richard Fisher. His memory will be forever cherished by his surviving sisters, Erma (Homer) Lambright and Bonnie Bailey.
Forging a partnership that would last a lifetime, Larry married his sweetheart, Sharon (Miller) Fisher, on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1956. Their love endured until Sharon passed on February 13, 2019. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Debbie Kabzinski and Jeff (Brenda) Fisher, who provided him with the joys of fatherhood and later, the delight of being a grandfather to Bradley, Kent, Jason (Davina) Maple (Ian), and a great-grandfather to Penny and Violet. Larry is also survived by his step great grandchildren Jonny and Kristin and great great step grandchildren, Bradley and Lilly.
From an early age, Larry's entrepreneurial spirit shone through. He owned and operated two service stations where he not only provided friendly service but also worked on cars, crafting a community cornerstone that many depended upon. His zest for serving people extended into his ownership of the beloved local favorite, Dog n Suds, for over 25 years, and the Dairy Fair for 15 years following that. His establishments were more than businesses—they were gathering places that brought joy and delicious memories to the community.
Larry's love for cars wasn't just about business. He was an avid collector and restorer of classic and antique vehicles, and spent countless happy hours tinkering under the hood, restoring them to their former glory. His interest was not only a hobby but a way to connect with friends and family, often leading to spirited car-related discussions and drives.
Additionally, Larry found solace and excitement in the great outdoors while fishing, indulging in the serenity and the thrill that comes with the sport. Indoors, his competitive spirit found an outlet in card games. Euchre and 313 were favorites at family gatherings, where his sharp mind and warm laughter were staples at the table.
A time to visit with the family will be on Friday, December 19th, 2025, from 10 am – 12 pm. A service will begin at noon all being held at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka, IN 46545. A private burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date.
