Lawrence Alan Kempf

Mr. Lawrence Alan Kempf, 67, passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on the morning of Sunday, January 24, 2021. Lawrence was born on October 27, 1953 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Walter and Mary (Detwieler) Kempf.

A life-long resident of the area, Lawrence was employed as a security dispatcher for Four Winds Casino South Bend. On June 16, 2004, Lawrence was united in marriage to Grace H. Zaner, who survives. He was a huge animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his fur babies. Lawrence was a devoted and loving father of 6, grandfather to 13, uncle, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife of 16 years, Grace Kempf of South Bend, Lawrence is survived by a son, Michael Zaner of Chicago, IL; five daughters: Pamela Zaner of South Bend, Andrea Zaner of South Bend, Allyson Zaner of Rolling Prairie, IN, Alyshia Zaner of Rolling Prairie, IN and Jamie Zaner of South Bend; 13 grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Watson, and two brothers, Ronald Kempf and Gary Kempf.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 2-6:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628. Burial will follow at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Online expressions of sympathy may be left at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
