LeRoy Aschenbrenner Obituary

LeRoy Franklin Aschenbrenner, 86, of Mishawaka, IN., passed away from natural causes at 5:20p.m. Monday, June 29,2026, surrounded by his family in the Raclin House at Center for Hospice.

LeRoy was born on July 3, 1939, in Laona, WI. To Donald W. and Leona (Maxam) Aschenbrenner. When LeRoy was 19, he moved to Elkhart, IN., where he started his career of 44 years as a switchman for the railroad. On June 4, 1960, he married Blanche E. Holdeman at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Bremen, IN. They just celebrated 66 years of marriage. They lived in the Normain Heights neighborhood for over 60 years, where they made many close friends.

Leroy will be remembered for his love of deer hunting, gardening, bowling, bicycling, and walking. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Mishawaka, IN. for over 65 years, where he served as an usher.

Blanche survives along with their three children: Theresa (Bart) Mammolenti, Curtis (Lisa) Aschenbrenner and Brian (Cathy) Aschenbrenner; eight grandchildren: Heather Aschenbrenner, Michelle Aschenbrenner, Joanna (Matt) King, Elizabeth Mammolenti, Emily Mammolenti, Robert Mammolenti, Dennis Mammolenti, and Franklin Aschenbrenner; three great-grandchildren: Noah, Hayden, and Anabella; and his siblings: Sally (James) Beck, Bonnie (Mark) Fredrickson, Donald (Mary) Aschenbrenner, and Michael (Beverly) Aschenbrenner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a great grandchild, Carter P. King, and his sister and her husband, Judy (James) Manlick.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 West Mishawaka Avenue, Mishawaka, IN. with a visitation being held from 10:00
a.m. until service time. Father Jason Freiburger will officiate. A burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery in Bremen, IN.
