Lee Mairse Hall, 69, passed away peacefully in his hometown of South Bend on August 30, 2023. Lee was born on October 10, 1953, and was a lifelong resident of South Bend.
Lee held many different careers over the years, but his heart always came back to cooking. The job he loved the most was cooking at the University of Notre Dame, where he brought joy to many with his culinary skills. His passion for cooking extended beyond his professional life, as he loved to cook for his friends and family. Every Sunday, he would host what he affectionately called "Fat Sunday," a day filled with delicious food and good company.
Lee was a devoted fan of Notre Dame football, rarely missing a game. His love for the sport was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Brandy Hall, Lee Hall the 3rd and Justin Hall, and his cousins, Michael Clark and Paul Hawkins, along with a number of grandchildren. His long-time friends, Gwen Mottl, Dennis Patterson and Anna Killer will also remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi (Lee) and Josephine (Jenkins ) Hall, and his brother, Cordell Richardson.
Lee was known for his friendly demeanor and easy-going nature. He was a great friend and a good man, always ready with a smile and a kind word. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In keeping with Lee's wishes, cremation will take place. There will be a Celebration of Life at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Dave’s Pub in South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
