Leona Marie Smith

Leona Marie Smith, 89, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Saturday morning, April 10, 2021 at Wellbrooke of South Bend. Leona was born on September 1, 1931 in Columbus, Indiana, to Clarence Garrett and Cleah Blanche (Reed) Garrett, both of whom preceded her in death. On January 18, 1952, she married David Charles Smith, who preceded her death on January 14, 2014.

Leona is survived by a daughter, Mary Denise Wishin of South Bend; son, Terry Ray (Cindi) Smith of South Bend; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Clarence Leon Garrett of Columbus, IN. In addition to her parents and husband, Leona was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Kay Buzas; grandson, Shawn Smith; sister, Martha Foster; and brother, Robert Garrett.

Leona was a member of River Park United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Graveside services for Leona will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 16, 2021 at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
