Leonard F. Sears Jr., 82, of South Bend, passed away on Friday, April 24, at his home.
Born on May 1, 1943, in West Babylon, New York, to the late Leonard Sr. and Julia (Fridgies) Sears, Leonard attended the University of South Carolina to play football. He later married and moved his family to South Bend, where he worked at and eventually owned Sinco Pools. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, RV life, and winters golfing in Florida with his much-beloved dog, Tank.
Leonard is survived by his son, Brian (Teressa) Sears; his daughter, Jennifer Sears; and his stepdaughter, Tara Brubaker. He was a loving grandfather to nine grandchildren: Cody (Taylor) Sears, Taylor (Nate) Cunningham, Jordan (Madison) Sears, Cassie (Samuel) Lacher, Grace Brammer, Addie Brammer, Sophia Brammer, Michael Brammer, and Taryn Brubaker. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Henry, Violet, Willow, and Owen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Karen; and his sister, Judy Murray.
Private services will be held at a later date.
