Liberty Bell Hatfield

Liberty Bell AKA baby girl, Itty bitty, pumpkin, princess, momma's sunshine, her majesty, little schister & many other nicknames, was born on January 13, 2013, to the late Sebastian (MR) and Sophie Miner in Mishawaka, IN.

She was adopted by her parents Cheryl and Todd Hatfield and came home to South Bend on March 1, 2013 where she was released to run pain free on August 3, 2026 in her human parents’ arms after a lengthy illness.

 Liberty Bell will be remembered with deep love and affection by her family and all who she got to know. She was selective on who she would share her need for butt scratches with, often nudging your hand if you stopped before she was ready for you to stop. She was very selective in those she trusted, she was not fond of male vets, until she met Dr Brian Biggers whom she warmed up to instantly, she also adored Cody at Tender Care Vet Clinic as he was one of the few who could trim her nails.

Liberty Bell is lovingly survived by her human mom and dad Cheryl & Todd Hatfield, her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Brenda Kane and paternal grandmother Barbara Hatfield, her many aunts, uncles, cousins and especially by her special Aunts Maria Chamberlin and Karen Lucas, and Uncles Steve Reiter and Mark Lyvers. Liberty Bell was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather William E Hatfield, her fur parents Sebastian (MR) and Sophie Miner, fur sisters Cheyanne Marie, & Cherokee Chief whom she never met and Freedom Marie, and Molly Dolly whom she enjoyed torturing and stealing toys and balls from. She was also preceded in death by and enjoyed spending time with her older sister Soul Chamberlin.

At the age of 9 months, she became a seizure alert dog for her humom and took that job very seriously, often keeping a close eye on her humom when she had migraines, knee and ankle surgeries most times knowing humom wasn't feeling well before humom would admit it. She loved playing ball and would chase a tennis ball till she could barely keep going. She had many special stuffies, toys and bones that she loved but none more than Papa Hedge. Aunt Karen had to do many surgeries on Papa Hedge over the years due to Liberty Bell's unique ability to love and chew him at the same time.

We would like to thank Dr. Cathy Harris and Cody, Dr. Brian Biggers and Palmer Pet Cemetery and Pet Services for their care of Liberty Bell and support of our family. A private cremation has taken place.
