Lillie Jay Hill

Lillie Jay Hill, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother passed away on the 22nd of September 2023, in Mishawaka IN. Lillie was born on the 13th of October 1943 in San Antonio TX. Lillie was the beacon of strength, love, and resilience for those fortunate to cross paths with her.

Lillie was the cherished wife of Alfonzo Hill, and loving mother to Chad M. Cameron, Aaron K. (Rega) Cameron, and Sherry L. (Carl) Fulmore. Stepson Alquinton Hill who preceded her in death. She was a devoted grandmother to her six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, all of whom she adored and loved dearly. Lillie is survived by her sister Pamela Grady Williams, of San Antonio, TX, her brother Earl Freeman of Houston, TX, and her sister Winona Northern of South Bend, IN. She was preceded in death by her sister Jamesetta Perdue.

Lillie attended Phyllis Wheatley Highschool in San Antonio Texas.  She furthered her education at St Phillips College School of Nursing in San Antonio Texas. Upon leaving college Lillie embarked on a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN, at Michiana Community Hospital and Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center while living in South Bend, IN. She was passionate about her work and dedicated to providing the best care to all her patients. Those who worked alongside her appreciated her commitment and her compassionate nature. Her colleagues and patients alike will remember Lillie for her warm smile, and loving nature.

Lillie’s life was one of service, love, and devotion to her family, and community. Her generous spirit, warm heart, and unwavering faith will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and love.

As we say goodbye to Lillie Jay Hill, we celebrate her life and the joy she brought into ours. She will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday September 30th 2023, at the Greater Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 N. Adams Street, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Palmer Funeral Home - West Chapel, Lincolnway West, South Bend, is helping the family with arrangements.
