Linda Bongiovanni Obituary

Linda S. (Buford) Bongiovanni, 74, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away on June 22, 2026. She was born on August 22, 1951, in South Bend, Indiana, and lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and a deep love for her family.

Linda was the beloved daughter of the late Paul Buford and the late Lila (Sexton) Buford. She was the beloved wife of Michael Bongiovanni, whom she married on March 6th, 1982. Their marriage was built on love, companionship, and a shared life filled with family and cherished memories.  Linda devoted herself to her home and family as a homemaker, and she found great purpose in the simple but meaningful acts of caring for others. She graduated from Penn High School with the Class of 1970 and carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and care with her throughout her life.

Those who knew Linda will remember her as someone who loved to take care of everyone. She had a generous heart and a thoughtful spirit, always looking for ways to help, comfort, and support the people she loved. She was known for her remarkable memory and could remember everyone’s birthday in the family, a gift that reflected how closely she held her loved ones in her heart. She also enjoyed finding a good bargain and took pleasure in cooking, especially when it meant bringing family together around the table.

Above all else, Linda cherished spending time with her family. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by those she loved, sharing conversations, meals, laughter, and everyday moments that became treasured memories. Her presence brought warmth and steadiness to her family, and her love will continue to be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Linda is survived by her husband Michael Bongiovanni; her brothers, Doug (Peggy) Buford and Ed (Laura) Buford; her nephews, Doug Jr., Alex, and Zach; her niece, Paulynn; her stepson, Darin Bongiovanni; stepdaughter, Karin (Craig) Dale; her loving step grandchildren, Kayla (Josh), Tim (Marrissa), Danielle (Matthew), and Morgan (Alex). She also leaves behind nine loving step great grandchildren who brought her great joy. She was preceded in death by her parents.
