Linda Cassady Brasseur

Linda Cassady Brasseur, 73, passed away on December 20, 2025, due to a fall she took several days earlier. Her family was able to have precious time with her prior to her passing. Linda was born in Fort Bennington, Kansas, on June 3, 1952 to Thomas and Lenore (née Tucker) Cassady. She was preceded in death by her father and her son-in-law, James.

Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gregg Brasseur, and their four children: Alissa (John) Cohoat of Indianapolis; Ben (Stacie) Brasseur of Chesterfield, Missouri; Cecily (Adam) Teach of Monument, Colorado; and Sam (the late James Spendley) Brasseur of Plymouth, Minnesota.

Linda (affectionately known as “Noma”) adored and was adored by her grandchildren, and she is survived by Claire, Elise and Lou Cohoat; Cameron and Brie Brasseur; and Frances, Adeline and Tucker Teach.

Also surviving is her mother, Lenore; her siblings, Bruce (Judy) Cassady, Tom (Barbara) Cassady and Amy (Tom) Holdeman; as well as many Cassady & Brasseur in-laws, nieces and nephews—all who will miss her deeply.

Linda graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana, in 1970 and went on to study education at Indiana University Bloomington, from where she graduated in 1974 and was part of Alpha Chi sorority. Linda returned to northern Indiana after graduation and taught at Mary Beck Elementary in Elkhart, IN.  After her first child, Linda transitioned to a full-time mom, at which she excelled. Linda was a volunteer extraordinaire and spent many years with Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program of St. Joseph County.

Linda had a zeal for life which she readily shared with others. She grew up in South Bend, but she spent her summers at Eagle Lake in Edwardsburg, MI. In her early years, Linda was an avid water skier, tennis player and loved riding her horse, Dolly. During her middle school years at Eagle Lake, Linda met her husband, Gregg. Linda and Gregg celebrated 50 years together this year in June. She was the ultimate hostess, a wonderful cook and took passionate care of those who needed her assistance. In recent years, she and Gregg spent most of their time traveling to be with her children and grandchildren, while at the same time providing loving care for her mom. 

Linda left us too early, but the memories will stay for generations. Linda was the rock to her family and friends.

A Catholic Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St. St. Joseph, MI 49085. A reception will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Notre Dame Stadium gate 4-east side – Corbett Family Hall 18931 Moose Krause Circle, Notre Dame, IN. 46556. Palmer Funeral Home—Welsheimer North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
