Linda G. Turnock, 80, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at Brookdale Granger.
Born on October 3, 1945, in South Bend, Indiana, Linda was the daughter of Dale and M. Evelyn (Long) Phares. She dedicated many years of her life to education as a teacher with the South Bend Community School Corporation, touching the lives of countless students through her patience, kindness, and commitment to learning.
On March 31, 1979, Linda married the love of her life, David A. Turnock. Together they shared many years of marriage filled with love, family, and faith.
Linda was a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she was actively involved in church life and enjoyed fellowship with her congregation. She was also a proud member of the Retired Teachers Association. In her free time, Linda loved spending time with her cats, playing solitaire, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.
She is survived by her husband, David A. Turnock, her daughter, Sarah Higgins and husband John of Omaha, Nebraska; her sister, Susan Todt of Elkhart, Indiana; and her brother, Mark Phares and wife Laurel of Osceola, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Linda’s life during visitation on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home–Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1021 Manchester Dr., South Bend, IN 46615 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Ken Peterson.
Interment will take place at Brown Cemetery in Millersburg, Indiana, with burial services beginning at 2:30 p.m., July 1st.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
