Loretta Kinnie, passed away on February 17, 2024, in Mishawaka Indiana. Born on March 12, 1951, in South Bend, Loretta's journey through life was marked by her steadfast commitment to her family, work and her community.

     Loretta was born the second child of Columbus Coleman and Dorothy (Carter) Coleman, both of whom predeceased her. She grew up surrounded by a large family, including her only child, Larry Kinnie of Philadelphia, PA and her grandson, Kensington Kinnie. Loretta was a sister to many: Thelma Coleman, Tina Coleman, Annette Hamilton, Roniela Coleman, Columbus Coleman Jr., Ronald Coleman, Jeffrey Coleman, and Todd (Yulonda) Coleman. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Elexis Kinnie, and her siblings, Carolyn Fox, Shirley Coleman, Marilyn Coleman, and Anthony Coleman.

     Loretta's educational journey took her to undergraduate studies at Grambling State University. Her professional path led her to serve as a waitress at Denny's for over 25 years. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and she took pride in providing for her son. 

     Loretta was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Indiana and New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Her involvement in the organization was a testament to her desire to contribute to the greater good. She was a dedicated mother who poured her heart and soul into providing for her son, Larry. Her love was a guiding force that shaped his life. Loretta was a hard and dedicated worker. Her tenacity and perseverance were sources of inspiration. Loretta's life was a testament to the impact one person can have on those around them.     

 Funeral services for Loretta will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
