Lorraine H. (Koz) Plefka

Lorraine “Lori” H. Plefka, 98, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away Monday, May 18, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Hospital.  Lori was born January 14, 1922 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Joseph and Harriet (Switalski) Koz, and has been a lifelong resident of the area.

Lori graduated from Central High School before earning a Bachelor Degree in the Arts. She was an avid artist and poet. Lori showed and sold paintings in many galleries.  She belonged to the South Bend Museum of Art and the Watercolor Society of America.  She worked as a supervisor/office data processor.  Lori was an Honor Guard with Harvest House at Christ the King Church. She also belonged to the Single Seminars at Northway Church of Christ and the Legion of Mary.  Lori loved nature, traveled extensively, reading and being with her family and friends.

In 1946, Lori married John Lee Segner, who preceded her in death in 1949.  Later in 1957, she married James Plefka who also preceded her in death in 1987.

Lori is survived by her granddaughters, Tara Rodgers and Denise Mariano; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.  Along with her parents and husbands, Lori is preceded in death by her son, Dennis Segner; two sisters, Marie J. Fogle and Irene Skroll and her brother Don J. Koz.

Mass of Christian Burial for Lori will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at St. Theresa Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Rd., South Bend IN 46635. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the Mass.
