On the morning of Friday the 8th of May Louann Paulette Rak Stemm earned her wings and flew up to our Lord and Savior. She was proceeded in this trip by her parents, Stanley and Charlotte Rak, her brother Daniel Rak and her husband Stephen Stemm. She is survived by her oldest brother, James and Brenda Rak and her Aunt, Betty Sager and various cousins. Louann was born on March 9, 1953, in Dowagiac Michigan and she lived there for most of her life. She graduated in 1971 from the Dowagiac school system and worked in the banking industry.
There were many things Louann loved in life. The most important was her love of her religion. She missed being in His House and the fellowship. Next was Simba and Millie, her “kid” cats. They are really missing her. She liked to talk and she enjoyed being with the people who she loved and cared for. She had a warm personality and with the gift of conversation had made her a familiar and comforting presence to many. She also liked to work in her flower and vegetable gardens and bake in her kitchen, two hobbies that brought her joy and allowed her to share her talents with others. Whether she was tending to her gardens or preparing something special in the kitchen she found happiness in simple, meaningful moments. Louann Paulette Stemm will be remembered with affection and respect for the warmth she shared, the relationships she cherished and the many ways she touched the lives of others. Her memory will remain a blessing to her family, her friends and the community.
There will be a Memorial Dinner at the First United Methodist Church in Dowagiac Michigan on June 3, 2026, at One o’clock P.M. Donations can be made in her name to this church or any animal shelter or the charity of your choice.
