Lucille Galligan Obituary

Lucille Mae Galligan passed away on Friday July 24, 2026.

She was born in Tell City, Indiana on December 11, 1921. Her parents were Edwin O. Miller and Mary Josephine (Sandage) Alvey.

Lucille is the oldest of five siblings. On April 18, 1928, all were placed in orphanages, 3 children in Potters Orphanage in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and 2 children in a baby orphanage in Louisville, Kentucky.

She had 2 stepbrothers by adoption, Timothy Gunter of Washington, DC, and Richard Gunter of Newport Richey, Florida.

All her siblings preceded her in death, brothers John E. Miller, Andrew S Cooper of South Bend, IN, Henry Randall Arganbright, and sister, Myra Gayle McCauley. All three brothers served in WWII.

On July 19, 1947, she married Arthur Patrick Galligan, who passed away on December 21, 2004. They divorced prior to her death.

Lucille worked 24 years for Schwayder Brothers in Ecorse, Michigan, famous for Samsonite card tables, chairs, and luggage. Then 7 years for Crawford Door in Ecorse, Michigan. She retired from Memorial Hospital, South Bend in 1986.   

Lucille became a Christian at age 11, while in the orphanage. She was a member of the Church of Christ. When she could no longer travel to attend church, she worshipped with Dr. John Hagee on T.V.

Per Lucille’s wishes, no services, arrangements for cremation only. Palmer Funeral Home ~ Bubb Chapel is honored to be assisting the family.
