Luminita (Craciun) Vasilescu

Luminita “Lumi” Vasilescu, age 73, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

She was born on July 3, 1952, in Oradea, Romania, to Valentin and Emilia (Lascu) Craciun. Lumi later married Radu Vasilescu on October 1, 1983, in Bucuresti, Romania, sharing many years of life and memories together.

Lumi built a career as a travel agent for 33 years, a profession that reflected her love for exploration, connection, and helping others experience the world. For 20 plus of those years, she worked at LeSEA Broadcasting as their in-house travel planner. She especially enjoyed organizing trips for groups to the Holy Land. Through her work in the travel industry, she touched many lives with her knowledge, warmth, and dedication.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Radu Vasilescu of South Bend; and dear friends Terry and Cyndi Troyer, along with many others who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Florin Craciun.

Lumi will be remembered for her kind spirit, her strength, and her deep ties to both her Romanian heritage and her life in the United States.

A short time of prayer will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 3:30 p.m., at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614, with the Priest from St. Andrews Orthodox Church to officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lumi’s honor may be given to Heart to Heart Hospice, 620 W. Edison Rd. Ste 122, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
