Margaret J. Pfeil

Margaret (Peggy) J. Pfeil, 89 years old, passed away at 10:03 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Center for Hospice, Mishawka.  Margaret was born on December 8, 1932 in South Bend to the late William E. and Florence E. (Dinan) Pfeil.  She has remained a lifelong resident of South Bend.  Along with her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ardis; brother, William Robert; and a great great grand-niece, Nova Brammer.

Peggy retired from Bernell Optical Supplies after over 45 years of employment.  She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend where she was active with the St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society and the Parish choir.  Peggy was a member of the Potawatomi Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association and an Area Captain with TOPS since 1973.

Peggy is survived by Michael Lee (Wendy) Kauffman, Robert (Noel) Kauffman, Matthew Kauffman, Mikayla (Nathan) Kauffman-Sarrault, Natalie (Jason Brammer) Humphrey-Kauffman, Colton Kauffman, Michael Louis Kauffman, and Richard (Donna) Pfeil.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 226 N. Hill Street, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to Mass at the church.  Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend at a later date.  Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel is assisting the family.
