Margaret Weber Obituary

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Weber, 70, returned to her Heavenly Father on June 13, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.  She was born on December 21, 1951, in South Bend, to the late John S. and Mary (Marger) Klaybor.  On April 5, 1975, she married George F. W. Weber III in Christ the King Catholic Church in South Bend.
Peggy is survived by her husband, George, and children, Gregory John Weber and Carol Ann-Weber Platz (Jeffery), along with two grandchildren, Christopher Michael Platz and Nicholas Jeffrey-Jude Platz.  She is also survived by her sisters Jacqueline Klaybor, Mary (Stephen) Pajakowski, brother, John L. Klaybor, and preceded in death by her brother Joseph F. Klaybor (Kristie).
Peggy was a 1969 graduate of St. Joseph High School and a 1973 graduate of St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN.  She taught in the South Bend Public Schools for six years and later at St. Joseph High School as a part-time math teacher. She retired from the University of Notre Dame in 2017 after 28 years, where she had worked in several departments before retiring as an Associate Director within the Office of International Studies.  During her years at Notre Dame, she treasured the lifelong friends she made and the opportunities she had to travel abroad to Ireland.
Two of the greatest joys in Peggy’s life were her grandsons, Christopher and Nicholas. The three of them shared an unspeakable bond known to the world by the smiles on their faces when they were together and the squeals that were heard when ‘NINA’ pulled in the driveway.
We will carry with us a million and one memories of Peggy. We will miss her beautiful smile, impeccable taste and style, comforting nature, love of holiday celebrations, and ability to always find a good deal while shopping. Our hearts our saddened but find comfort in the eternal promise of God.
Special thanks from the family to the endless thoughts and prayers from all of her friends, family, and neighbors.  Your constant messages, food, and offers to help brought comfort during difficult times and surrounded the family with kindness and support.  The family also wishes to recognize and thank The Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka, IN for their kindness and endless care.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday, June 19, 2022, in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm.
