Marie Ann Stewart, 70, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in the city where she was born and lived her life with quiet grace and gentle strength.

She was born on January 5, 1956, in South Bend, to the late Clarence E. and Ruby Mae (Palmer) Stewart. She shared her childhood with her siblings and carried those family bonds with her always, treasuring the memories and connections that remained important to her through the years.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence E. and Ruby Mae (Palmer) Stewart; her sister, Jean Marie Stewart; and her brothers, Jack E. Stewart and Dale R. Stewart. She is survived by her brother, Ray G. Stewart of Mishawaka, Indiana. The love of her family remained a meaningful part of her life, and those who knew her will remember the quiet way she held her loved ones close in her heart.

Marie lived a simple life marked by dignity and sincerity. She was never employed outside the home, yet her life carried value in the many ways she touched those around her. Her gentle nature was one of her most defining qualities. She met life with patience and a soft heart.

Marie’s passing brings sorrow to those who loved her, but her memory will remain a comfort to her family and friends. She will be remembered with love for the gentle way she lived and for the enduring presence she held in the lives of those around her.

Private burial will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Highland Cemetery in South Bend, IN. Palmer Funeral Home—River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
