Marilyn L. Rich, 88, of Plainfield, IN, died in the early morning on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Sugar Grove Memory Care, Plainfield. Mrs. Rich was born August 1, 1933, in Elkhart, IN to the late Paul and Beatrice (Stouder) Pawling and was a lifetime area resident of South Bend until moving to Plainfield in 2013.
On June 11, 1955, in Elkhart, she married her husband of 61 years, Carl D. Rich, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Steve) Snyder of Upland, IN; her son, Douglas (Roberta) Rich of Avon, IN; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Travis) Booth of Libertyville, IL, Ryan (Olivia) Snyder of Indianapolis, IN, and Shelby Rich of Avon, IN; and two great-grandchildren, Asher and Huxley Booth. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Pawling.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Marilyn was a graduate of Elkhart High School. She was formerly employed as a medical transcriptionist for both medical and maxillofacial doctors. She had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend for 56 years, where she served faithfully in many capacities, and First Baptist Church in Plainfield for 4 years.
Graveside services will be held at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 28, with Rev. Reed Anderstrom officiating. Palmer Funeral Home-Welsheimer North Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.
Memorial contributions in Marilyn’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
