Marilyn Jean Rantz Weisser, 91, passed away peacefully at home with family in McCordsville, Indiana, on May 25, 2026.
Born on December 14, 1934, in South Bend. Marilyn was a lifelong woman of faith, family, and creativity. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Weisser, and her sons, John Weisser and Paul Weisser.
Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Steve (Melissa) Weisser and Kim (Tim) Basker; ten cherished grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Eldora, Pat, and Sharon.
Known lovingly to her family as “Nana,” Marilyn created countless treasured memories for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Summers at Nana’s house were filled with laughter, swimming in the pool, and a refrigerator always stocked with pop for anyone who stopped by. Christmas gatherings at Nana’s house became beloved family traditions, where each family member looked forward to receiving one of her handmade embroidered towels.
Marilyn was deeply creative and enjoyed crafting, making scrapbooks, and creating beautiful embroidery projects that her family will cherish for years to come. She also loved collecting treasures of all kinds, from Beanie Babies to Norman Rockwell collectibles, and took great joy in sharing her collections with family and friends. Marilyn also enjoyed playing cards and taking trips to the casino with friends.
A devoted parishioner of St. Jude’s Church, Marilyn had a deep love for God that guided her throughout her life. Above all else, she loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Marilyn’s warmth, faith, creativity, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
