Marvin D. Long, 80, of Buchanan, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Marvin was born on March 21, 1945, in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Wilbur D. Long and Clara M. (Krogmeier) Long. On August 27, 1983, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Lauritzen in Muskegon, Michigan, and together they shared more than four decades of love, partnership, and family.
A longtime business owner, Marvin operated his own home repair business and was known for his skill, reliability, and dedication to helping others. He was an avid golfer who loved being outdoors, and he enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie that came with the game. Marvin was a proud member of the Buchanan Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post #51.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, Phyllis, and his grandchildren. For more than 25 years, Marvin and Phyllis spent their winters as snowbirds in St. Petersburg, Florida, where they built a cherished extended family of friends and neighbors who became an important part of their lives.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his sons, Jeffrey W. (Laura) Long, and Gregory Long; and his stepdaughters, Stacy L. (J.D.), Osman, Geri L. (Art) Phillips. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters, and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held.
