Mary J. Clingenpeel, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Memorial Hospital.
Mary was born on June 9, 1943, in Santa Monica, California, to Joseph and Helen (Christenson) Moulder. She moved to North Liberty, Indiana, in 1962, where she made her home for many years. On December 16, 1961, she married Paul Clingenpeel, the love of her life, in Canoga Park, California. Mary devoted her life to her family, friends, and community.
Mary is survived by her children: daughters Kendell Geiling of Denver, Colorado, Elyse (Todd) Gentry of Columbus, Ohio, and sons Michael Clingenpeel of Thermopolis, Wyoming, and Eugene Clingenpeel of Walkerton, Indiana. She is also survived by seven grandchildren—Andy, Maddie, Paul, Ted, Jack, Lila, and Charlie—who brought her great joy. She is further survived by her sister, Joann Batts (Dwain) of Mansfield, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul and her daughter-in-law Jen Clingenpeel.
Mary will be remembered for her devotion and passionate commitment to her family, her gentle spirit, and her years of service at home, volunteering, and in healthcare.
The family will observe a private burial service at East Lawn Cemetery in North Liberty. Palmer Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
