Mary E. Teller-Schoen, a cherished soul whose warmth and creativity brightened the lives of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Chicago, IL. Born on November 3, 1953, in Virginia, MN, Mary's journey was one marked by love, dedication, and a zest for life that was truly infectious.
Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Frederick and June (Kline) Teller, who instilled in her a strong sense of family and an appreciation for the beauty of the world around her. She carried these values throughout her life, touching the hearts of many and building a legacy of kindness and compassion.
After completing her bachelor’s degree, Mary channeled her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit into the establishment of her own salon and day spa. Her flair for beauty and design was evident in every aspect of her business, earning her a reputation for excellence and a loyal clientele. Mary's talents extended beyond her professional life; she had a keen eye for interior design, transforming spaces into warm and inviting havens.
Mary's life was enriched by her loving husband, Greg L. Schoen, just as much as she enriched his life as they shared countless cherished moments. Married October 3, 2009, they were the perfect couple for each other, sharing so many common interests, laughter and bonds. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Christopher Schoen of Chicago, IL, and Matthew Schoen of South Bend, IN. Mary was a guiding light in their lives, imparting wisdom and nurturing their growth with unconditional love and support.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Mary found solace and joy in hiking through nature's trails, feeling the wind on her face as she cycled through the countryside, and tending to her garden, where she coaxed plants into vibrant life. Her two dogs, Lily and Bella, were her constant companions, sharing in her adventures and her quiet moments at home.
Mary's passion for life was perhaps most evident during the holidays when she would transform her home into a wonderland of festive cheer. Her decorations were not merely displays; they were expressions of her generous spirit and her desire to bring joy to others.
Shared from one of her closest friends; "It is with a heavy heart that I share the sudden passing of my dear friend and mentor, Mary Teller. Mary believed deeply in helping others and never hesitated to step in when I needed support. Her kindness and generosity, along with her sharp wit and business mind, made her someone I could always count on, no matter the situation. I am forever grateful for her guidance, her friendship, and the love she shared so freely. She will be missed more than words can say. Rest in peace, Mary!"
