Mary Francine "Fran" Sullenger (Malcolm), age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
Fran was born on February 12, 1931, in Marion, Illinois, to the late Roscoe and Mary Malcolm (Norman).
She is survived by her loving children, Debra (Michael) Powell of Inverness, Florida, Sabra (Craig) Twiford of Niles, Michigan, Scott (Susan) Sullenger of South Bend, Indiana, and Todd (Tammie) Sullenger of Union, Michigan. She also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Casey, and Bradley; six beloved great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure her memory.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey, her parents, Roscoe and Mary Malcolm, and her sisters, Betty and Norma Sue.
Fran lived a life filled with creativity, kindness, and love. She had many passions that brought joy to both herself and those around her. She was an accomplished painter, enjoyed playing the piano well into the final months of her life, and also loved playing the guitar. She found happiness in reading, cooking, gardening, and skiing, and was an avid Notre Dame fan and devoted animal lover. Above all, Fran's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother whose unwavering support, compassion, and generosity made her the best mom anyone could ask for. Her warmth and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her Christian faith was central to her life, and she faithfully lifted her family in prayer every day.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel on Friday August 7, 2026, from 3-6 PM.
