Matthew “Matt” J. Singleton, 65, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Matt was born on April 8, 1961, in South Bend, Indiana, and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Washington High School. He built a strong work ethic throughout his life, working for many years at Conn-Selmer (Vincent Bach) as a Specialized Bell Maker. He also spent time as a truck driver for Pam Transport which took him coast to coast with his co-pilot Austin. He also drove for Lionshead Specialty Tire and Wheel in Goshen, IN made many friends while working there as well. His most recent truck driving job he was employed with Cutters Foam Fabricating Inc.in Elkhart, IN up until he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Thank-you to everyone at Cutters for all you have done.
On July 17, 1999, he married Rebeca (De Hoyos) Singleton, who survives. Matt is also survived by his daughter, Nichole (Jake) DeWitt of Mishawaka; step-daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Knefely of Mishawaka; and his 4 amazing grandchildren, Dylan Matthew DeWitt, Emma DeWitt, Madelyn Knefely, and Isaac Knefely.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Virginia (Marciniak) Singleton; his brothers, Joseph Jr. Jack, David and Mark Singleton; and his sisters, Sandra and Helen Singleton.
Matt also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. A big Thank you to Guy, Anna and Pam for being there for their Uncle Matt every time he needed help.
Matthew will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his quiet strength, and the love he had for his family and friends Hai, Rod, Jerry and Tom.
No services are being held Matt will be cremated and is being handled by Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614, is assisting the family with arrangements. A “Celebration of Life” will be announced to his immediate family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Matt’s honor may be given to the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Memorial Hospital South Bend, 615 N. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601. “Thank you” is not enough to all the staff and doctors at Memorial Hospital and to the staff at Raclin Hospice House in Mishawaka, IN.
