Max Bottorff Obituary

Max Elson Bottorff, 95 years old, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at his residence in Mishawaka. He was born May 29, 1926 in Ladysmith, WI to the late William and Theressa (Goppert) Bottorff.

Max and his family moved to the Michiana area when he was around a year and a half. He has been a resident ever since. Max enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II. After returning home from the war, Max married his first wife, Tempie. They enjoyed 44 wonderful years of marriage before she passed away in 1997. He then met and married his second wife, Martha Robertson and they enjoyed ten years together before she passed in 2009. Then in 2013, Max married Ruby Bradford, who survives. They were able to enjoy eight beautiful years together.

Max was a wonderful man and well respected by everyone who met him. He was president of the Harrison Creek Housing Association, a member of the Mishawaka Alumni Association, a deacon at Michiana Community Church, and the treasurer at church for over 20 years. He worked at Uniroyal as a senior purchasing agent and was involved in the Uniroyal Management Club. He was given many leadership positions, but he always remained humble in them. He was a very caring and giving man. He also loved spending hours working on puzzles and would frame each one he completed.

Along with his loving wife, Ruby, Max is survived by his stepdaughters, Becky (Daniel) Dosmann of Granger, Renet (Fred) Ihrig of Elkhart, and Deb (Bernie) Adams of Hesperia, MI; stepsons, Gregory (Terrie) Robertson of Osceola and Barry (Jill) Robertson of St Joseph, MI; sisters, Alice Meloy, Betty Corey, and Jean Fitterling, all of Lake Wales, FL, and Doris Foster of Lakeville.  Max is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Max is preceded in death by his 2 brothers and 4 brother in laws.
