Michael R. Bonder

Michael "Mike" R. Bonder, 78, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on June 27, 2026, in South Bend.

Mike was born on December 1, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Ralph and Frances (Wojtowicz) Bonder. On September 1, 1984, in Allen Park, Michigan, he married the love of his life, Marilyn (Gerheart) Bonder, with whom he shared over 41 wonderful years of marriage.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Bonder; his daughters, Jennifer Dickey of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Jamie Bonder of South Bend, Indiana; his sons, Paul Bonder of South Bend, Indiana, and Joel (Susan) Bonder of Goshen, Indiana. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Kayla (Nicholas), Kyle, Evan, and Hudson; two beloved great-grandchildren, Harrison and Ophelia; his sisters, Rachael (Rodger) Rademacher of Spring Hill, Florida, and Denise Catt of South Lyon, Michigan; his brother, Darin Bonder of Ypsilanti, Michigan; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Frances Bonder, and his beloved son, Nathan Bonder.

Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army. He found great joy in woodworking and stained glass, bowling, Belgian archery, reading, clue hunts, and leading Boy Scouts and participated in the marching band pit crew. He was a devoted fan of Detroit sports teams and treasured the time he spent attending Bible study at Clay United Methodist Church and Gospel City Church . Above all, Mike loved his family and will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, steadfast faith, and unwavering devotion to those he loved especially God. Mike's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Family will be hosting a Celebration of Life gathering on Sunday July 12th in the Glenn Bauer Shelter located within Bendix Woods County Park, New Carlisle, Indiana from 1pm – 6pm. Food and drinks will be provided, dress is casual. There will be a small service at 3pm to honor Mike and his memory.
