Michael Joseph Bongiovanni

Michael J. Bongiovanni, age 76, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away on July 1, 2026. He was born on September 2, 1949, in South Bend, Indiana, and lived a life marked by devotion to his family, strong work ethic, and a warm appreciation for the simple joys that made life meaningful.

Michael was the beloved husband of Linda (Buford) Bongiovanni, whom he married on March 6, 1982, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Their marriage was a lasting partnership filled with love, companionship, and shared adventures. He cherished his time with Linda and especially enjoyed traveling with her, creating memories that will be treasured always. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Bongiovanni, and his mother, Malvina (Richardson) Lively. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda, who passed away on June 22, 2026.

Michael was a devoted father to Darin Bongiovanni and Karin (Craig) Dale. He was a proud grandfather to Kayla (Josh), Tim (Marrissa), Danielle (Matthew), and Morgan (Alex), and he found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and his several great-grandchildren. His family meant everything to him, and he was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved. Michael will also be missed by his sister, Michelle (John) Garab; his brother, Frank (Holly) Bongiovanni; his brothers-in-law, Doug (Peggy) Buford and Ed (Laura) Buford; and several nieces and nephews. His presence, kindness, and steady support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A graduate of Mishawaka High School, Class of 1968, Michael carried the values of hard work and perseverance throughout his life. He dedicated more than 45 years of service as a forklift operator at Raco, where he was known for his reliability, dedication, and strong sense of responsibility. His long career reflected the pride he took in doing his work well and the respect he earned from those around him.

Outside of work, Michael enjoyed a variety of interests that brought him happiness over the years. When he was younger, he loved fishing and spending quiet time outdoors. He was also a huge car enthusiast and especially enjoyed drag racing, a passion that reflected his energy and enthusiasm for life. He loved his dogs, Molly and Roxy, and they were a cherished part of his daily life. Above all, Michael treasured time with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren, and those moments brought him his greatest joy.

Michael will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He lived a life rooted in family, loyalty, and simple pleasures, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will be held close by all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
