Michael Farkas Obituary

Michael Joseph Farkas, 61, of Lakeville passed away on Saturday June 13, 2026, in his home.

He was born on September 2, 1964, in Mishawka to the late Joseph and Charleen (Gardner) Farkas.

Mike worked as a union bricklayer. He was a proud, skilled, dependable and hard worker. Traits that he passed onto each of his children. He spent his life building the area he called home. Including many buildings throughout the downtown South Bend area, the campus of IUSB and even the gymnasium where his oldest grandchild will attend high school this fall. At the time of his death he was proudly employed as a project manager at HGR Group in South Bend.

He was blessed with three children; Ryan (Stephanie) Farkas, Chadwick Farkas, and Peni Nichole Farkas as well as 4 grandchildren; Emma Bean, Addison Jo, Cooper, and Veda, and sisters; Debby (Frank) Umbaugh and Tammy (Bill) Langdon. He was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who all fondly nicknamed him Uncle Mean. And of course, his dog Jaxon.

Mike was the life of the party. His loud voice, infectious laugh and a little bit of rum and coke gave him  the ability to make friends wherever he was at. He was a family man through and through. His sisters were his best friends and travel companions. He shared a special bond and relationship with each of his 3 children. His grandchildren were the light of his life and nothing made him more proud than being Papa Mike. He loved riding his Harley, watching the Chicago Cubs and spending his Saturday nights with his 2nd family at The Pirates Cove. The world will be a little more quiet without him in it.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his sister; Peni Lee Farkas, and nephew Eric J. Lach.
