Obituary

Michael L. Siney went home with his Lord and Savior on May 22, 2023. Mike was born in South Bend, IN on September 17, 1940, to Joseph and Caroline (Humelsheim) Siney. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Hardesty and Joanne Koepp. A cousin, Mary Ann (Humelsheim) Spychalski survives.

Mike and Mary Jo (Kintz) Siney were united in holy matrimony on June 27, 1964. He is survived by Mary Jo and their children, Michelle Straube (Jake - deceased), Colleen Siney, and Patrick Siney (Rachael). Mike dearly loved his grandchildren, Hattie McVey, Autumn Siney, and Carson (Lydia) Straube and his many nieces and nephews.

Mike grew up in River Park and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1958. He was always grateful for his godly parents, loving family, and Catholic education. Mike served his country in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1969. At the dawn of the computer age, Mike’s God-given ability to problem-solve was recognized and his career as a programmer evolved with the industry. He retired from Fiserv Lending Solutions (formerly Data-Link) in 2006.

With his strong work ethic and creative nature, Mike was never without a project; he could engineer, build, or fix almost anything. A special passion was American classic cars and he and his son built a 1934 Plymouth together. Mike maintained and enjoyed the family classics and “drivers” over the years.

Mike always held his marriage to his best friend, Mary Jo, in high regard. Mike loved to say, “I am an equal partner in a successful marriage.” and weekly date night and annual “marriage maintenance” trips kept their marriage strong. Mike’s fidelity, provision and sense of humor were his greatest gifts to Mary Jo.

But above all, the grace of knowing Jesus as his personal Savior produced in Mike, humility, security, peace, and joy. He and Mary Jo mentored single and engaged couples toward Godly marriages. Mike fell in love with the Word of God in Bible Study Fellowship and grew in his faith. He loved his church family at Gospel Center Missionary Church. Mike loved his family and friends dearly and only desired that each one would know the Lord and join him in heaven one day.  Ultimately, that’s all that mattered.
