Nancy L. (Swisher) Grooms

Nancy L. Grooms, 67 years old, passed away at 6:42 a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  Nancy was born on February 6, 1954 in South Bend to the late James E. and Melva E. (Kisor) Swisher.  She has remained a lifelong resident.  On October 12, 1985 in South Bend, Nancy and Robert “Bob” Grooms were united in marriage.  Her husband preceded her in death on November 20, 2010.  Also preceding her in death was a sister, Kathy Galicia; and two brothers, James and Dick Swisher.  Nancy formerly worked at Kreamo Bakery.  She was also a lunch aid at Tarkington Elementary School for several years.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Judy (Mike) Grove of Elkhart; son, William (Jackie) Holmes of Osceola; three grandchildren, Jamie (Aaron) Spencer, Trevor (Kelli) Picking and Robert Baker; four great grandchildren, Chase, Charolotte, Roy and Lunan; sister, Cheryl Worsham of South Bend; brother, Dennis Swisher of Niles; and two sisters-in-law, Karen Swisher of South Bend and Patt Swisher of Mishawaka.

The family will share memories on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Southlawn Cemetery, 61300 U.S. 31 South, South Bend.  Everyone is welcome.  Burial will follow.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting.
