Nancy Patterson Obituary

Nancy Ann Patterson, known lovingly as Nancy, passed away on May 26, 2026, in Mishawaka, Indiana, at the age of 82.

She was born on March 24, 1944, in Mishawaka, Indiana, and moved to Tennessee in 1981 where she got married to Buford and raised her daughter. She moved back to Mishawaka in 2017.  Nancy lived with quiet strength, kindness, and a gentle spirit that touched the lives of those around her. She was a Christian woman whose faith was an important part of her life and helped guide the way she cared for others and faced each season of life with grace.

Nancy worked for many years as a dietary aide before retiring. Through her work, she showed dedication, patience, and a caring nature that was appreciated by those she served and worked alongside. She approached her responsibilities with a dependable spirit and a warm heart, leaving behind the memory of someone who gave of herself in steady and meaningful ways.

Family was central to Nancy’s life, and she cherished the time she spent with those she loved. She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Strombeck and her fiancé Jon; two grandsons, Jacob Bates and his wife Skylar, and Daniel Strombeck; and two great-granddaughters, Remy and Oaklyn Bates. Nancy found great joy in being with her grandchildren and creating memories that will be treasured by her family for years to come. Her love for them was evident in the simple moments they shared and in the lasting bonds she helped build.

Nancy enjoyed the comfort of familiar pastimes, including playing solitaire and watching The Golden Girls. These small pleasures brought her enjoyment and reflected the peaceful, easygoing moments she appreciated in life. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and being part of their lives, where her presence brought warmth, laughter, and love.

She was preceded in death by her husband Buford Patterson and by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Schirm, and by her two sisters and three brothers, Betty Ladrow, Margaret Lodyga, Robert Schirm, Richard Schirm, and John Schirm. Their memory remained a part of her life, and she carried the love of her family with her throughout the years.

Nancy will be remembered for her kind heart, her devotion to family, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and the example of a life lived with care and dignity. Her family and friends will remember her with deep affection and gratitude for the time they shared with her.

She passed away naturally in the place where she was born and lived much of her life, Mishawaka, Indiana. Though she is no longer with her loved ones, the impact of her presence will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Nancy’s life was a blessing to her family, and her memory will be held close with love and respect.
