Nathan S. “Nate” Brooks, age 53, of Madison Heights, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Born and raised in Urbana, Ohio, Nate spent most of his adult life in the South Bend, Indiana area. He was employed by Mission BBQ as a kitchen manager, where he earned the restaurant’s highest honor of “Pit Master.”
Nate was preceded in death by his mother, Denise (Bishop) Brooks, and his oldest son, Elijah “Eli” Taylor Brooks.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Quincey Brooks; Sheena Brooks; Braelyn Brooks; Brynlee Brooks; and Elianna “Ellie” Brooks; his granddaughter, Sabrina Brooks; his girlfriend, Shannon Albright; his father and stepmother, Tim and Joyce Brooks; his brother, Christopher Brooks; and his best friend, Ken Spitzer.
Nate was a proud member of Freemasonry and a fielding lodge officer of Fielding Lodge 192 in South Charleston, Ohio. He was an avid University of Kentucky basketball and WWE fan, and loved golf and billiards. Above all else, Nate loved his children, family, and friends deeply.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Saint Peter’s United Church of Christ, 915 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00-1:00pm at the church prior to the service. Guests are encouraged to wear University of Kentucky blue, golf polos, or ball caps in his honor. Traditional funeral attire is also welcome. Palmer Funeral Home—River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
