Nicholas R. DeLeu

Nicholas Ray DeLeu, 32, of Mishawaka, passed away on Friday April 19th, 2024.

Nick leaves behind his wonderful parents, Philip & Denise DeLeu (Gerald), the love of his life-Chelsea McGonigal, two beautiful daughters, Reed Carmella & Adaline Denise, as well as his siblings, Brittany DeLeu Williams & Nick Williams, Nathan DeLeu & Britney DeLeu (Pryzgoda) and one handsome nephew, Brooks.

Nick had three doting grandmothers, Kathy Jakubiak, Barbara DeLeu, & Karin Gerald. He also left many aunts, uncles, & cousins who truly loved him. He was proceeded in death by his grandparents Robert DeLeu, Etta Gayle Smith, & Michael Gerald.

Nicholas was anything but ordinary. With his sweet demeanor & those captivating baby blue eyes, he managed to charm his way into so many people’s hearts. His laugh was contagious- he truly lit up a room with his outrageous sense of humor. Nick had the biggest heart & was always ready to lend a helpful hand when needed, especially to his dad- who was also his best friend. There was a time that he wore his recovery on his sleeve like a badge of honor. We were all so proud of him. And despite the fallbacks, he always tried to push through.

Nick’s biggest accomplishment was becoming a father. He was so proud of his family. He loved making them laugh, watching them grow, & keeping them on their toes. He was taken from us too soon, but Chelsea, Reed, & Adaline will remain a reminder of the beauty it is to love so much. We are so very thankful for the time had. God has now wrapped His arms around him tightly, so we all can rest easy knowing he has finally found peace.

Nick’s memory will live on, through his family & his striking blue eyes handed down to Adaline.

In lieu of gifts, the family has setup an account: The Nicholas R. DeLeu Memorial Fund for Adaline, at Notre Dame Federal Credit Union. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
