Nicolas Garcia Obituary

Nicolas (Nick) Garcia, 63 years old, residing in New Carlisle, IN, passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 1, 2021 in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born April 24, 1957 in Brownsville, TX, to the late Nicolas & Carmen (Cortez) Garcia.  Nick has been a resident of the area since 1974.  He came to Indiana to study at Bethel College where he earned two bachelor’s degrees: Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management.   Nick worked in Business Development for UPS for 37 years, retiring in 2013.  He also worked with youth: coaching, teaching, and mentoring.

On June 5, 1982 he married his beautiful wife Penny (Paul) Garcia in Mishawaka, IN who survives.  They went on to have three loving and beautiful daughters; Adrianne (Joseph) Hurt, Rachel (Orlando) Mendez, and Hannah (Alexander) MacLeod all of South Bend.  He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Israel Hurt, Ella and Eli Mendez, Parker, Samuel and Baby Girl MacLeod (expected in June 2021.  He also leaves behind his sister Emilia Taylor of South Bend, along with a host of extended family members both here and internationally.

Nick loved playing and coaching soccer, and his home state of Texas. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  He was a strong but tender man, full of integrity and compassion, always serving others before himself. He never missed an opportunity to share the love of Jesus with others. Nick always had time to sit, listen, and talk with anyone. He loved to laugh and joke and he loved life. He spoke life and encouraged everyone to find their passion, develop it, and become who they were created to be.  He was always reading, buying, and dedicating books to others.  His impact was widespread...Nick knew no stranger.  He was a warrior for the Lord and he took his mission seriously.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the many doctors and nurses for the care they gave to Nick and his family over the last month as well as the countless people who surrounded and uplifted the whole family in prayer.
