Noah "Gene: Miller

June 8, 1927 ~ May 19, 2015 (age 87) 87 Years Old

MISHAWAKA – Noah “Gene” Miller, 87, residing in Mishawaka, IN passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Golden Living-Fountainview, Mishawaka, IN.  Gene served in the United States Navy at the end of World War II on the USS Bennett 473.  He retired from Uniroyal after 40 years of service.

Gene was born on June 8, 1927 in Linton, IN to the late George and Oma (Lynch) Miller.  He married Peggy L.  Kertes on November 18, 1994 in South Bend, IN.

Gene was the last remaining sibling of 12 children.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Miller.

He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Miller; daughters, Janine (John) Caruthers of Frisco, TX and Lisa (Ron) Metz of Kokomo, IN; daughter-in-law, Pam Miller of North Liberty; stepchildren, Ken (Mary) Kertes of Mishawaka and Pam (Joe) Zarazee of Granger; nine grandchildren, Chad Miller, Heather Nelson, Cory Miller, Chris Caruthers, Katie Metz, Dan Metz, Eric Metz, Riley Metz and Kelsey Metz ; four step-grandchildren, Matthew and Paige Kertes and Alex and Whitney Zarazee; and seven great grandchildren.

Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending auctions.  He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, May 22, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, where friends may visit one hour prior to services.  Pastor Chuck Wotring of Northway Church of Christ will officiate.
