Patty Risinger Obituary

Patty Ann Risinger, 87, of South Bend, IN, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 27, 2026. She was born on April 7, 1939, in Centralia, IL, to Glen and Carrie (Watkins) Davis.

Patty married her love of 68 years, Vernon Lee Risinger, at her childhood home on April 5, 1958. Theirs has been a love that has stood the test of time with great respect and adoration for one another. After they were married, they relocated a few years later to South Bend, Indiana where they raised their four boys and one girl. The family grew to 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was deeply devoted to her family and cherished the opportunities to gather with those she loved. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She dedicated her entire life to serving God by loving her people. To know her was a blessing. She loved the Lord and would always point back to His love and goodness and mercies in her life even on hard days. She was a tender hearted, kind and sweet soul, and fun to be around. She would cry with you, laugh with you, and sincerely pray for you. You would be full of encouragement after a visit with her.

Patty was extremely talented as a seamstress and artist. She enjoyed painting for her own enjoyment. Flowers, swans, landscapes. Her husband lovingly referred to her as “Grandma Roses.” She was humble and never believed she was very good, but anyone who has seen her work can testify that she truly had a great talent. She enjoyed her tea pots, china dishes and having fun tea parties with friends and family. She always kept a warm and cozy home that truly felt like an inviting resting spot for so many.

Patty was so loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Lee Risinger of South Bend; her four sons: Robert (Monica) Risinger of Bremen, IN; William Risinger of South Bend; Edgar (Robin) Risinger of Burlington, Kentucky; and Joseph (Roberta) Risinger of South Bend; and her daughter, Carrie (Vincent) Cobb of South Bend.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Nathan, Matthew (Anna), Benjamin, and Micah, the children of Robert and Monica; William (Chasity), Rebecca (Patrick) Ruch, and Samuel (Samantha), the children of William and Margaret; Jessica, Emma, Maxwell, and Bradley, the children of Edgar and Robin; and Anna (Nathan) Swanson, Joseph Jr. (Lindsay), Gabriel (Hannah), Louisa, Mariella (Hunter) Philbrick, the children of Joseph and Roberta. Patty also leaves behind 21 great-grandchildren. Patty was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Margaret Risinger, her parents, Glen and Carrie Davis, her brother David Davis, as well as her sisters, Lois Atchison and Peggy Hazlip.
