Paul Joseph Gyori

Paul Joseph Gyori, 73, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home after an illness on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Born on October 11, 1952, in South Bend, Paul was the son of Peter & Irene (Vargas) Gyori. He graduated from St. Joseph High School and attended Purdue University. He spent his life in the South Bend community and built a respected career with Smurfit-Stone Container.

Paul’s lifelong passion was breeding and showing purebred dogs, specifically Wire Fox Terriers and Airedales. Paul was a well-respected and active member of The American Fox Terriers Club and The Wire Fox Terrier Club of Central States. He also volunteered at Health Plus Indiana in his retirement.

He is survived by his sister, Diane (Keith) Heiner of Spring Hill, Tennessee; his nephews, Benjamin (Daniela) Heiner of Chicago, and Nicholas Heiner of Denver, Colorado; and a great-nephew, Alejandro Heiner. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Irene Gyori.

Burial of cremated remains will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Notre Dame, Indiana. A memorial service will be held at the next gathering of the Fox Terrier Clubs.

Paul will be remembered for his strength, his love for his family, and the friendships and memories he created through his lifelong passion for show dogs and Wire Fox Terriers.
